Sally is a result of
a frozen semen insemination breeding - the second successful one we've done with Vindicator and Mama's Girl.
I call her my 'pupsicle' :)
We haven't put alot of emphasis Sally's show potential but she has been training
to hunt.
She has spent time with us and our friend Wayne Dimond. Wayne has this to
say about this young girl and her potential:
..."One of the coon came crawling down the tree till it was about 8 feet off the ground. I got
Sally to see it then it was game on. She was up on the tree whining and smelling like crazy. She dove on it without any hesitation.
After petting her up we headed back to the truck. Sally about ripped my arm off all the way
back to the truck....
I put Dolly away and tied Sally off to the back of the truck while I did about a 100 yard drag
for her. Got back to the truck, cut her loose and she was off, trailed the coon all the way to the tree got up on the
tree and barked some. Ended the night there. Always good to end the night on a positive note, she did real good.
A few more nights like that and I don't think it'll be long before she gets what the game
is all about after what I saw from her tonight."
And this from another night of training:
"Worked Sally on a caged coon tonight, she lost her mind.
Turned the coon loose without her seeing it and she ran the track wide open, barking all the
way. Got the the tree and she was winding barking up some....did another drag, she ran it right to the tree and was standing
on her back legs barking, not on the wood but she knew it was there. Things are looking good. Gonna take her out with big
Dolly again one night this week. She's doing great."
We are pleased with Sally's progress - at barely a year old, I'd say she's gonna make a nice dog
in the woods.
Thank You to Wayne for working Sally with us and giving his honest opinion (on good and bad
nights!) on Sally!
