With the new year comes new beginnings! And flu-cold season  ugh.  I've been down the past couple days with cold and sinus yuckies.
We are in the midst of a January thaw here in Maine. Temps have reached ~40 degrees which means lots of snow melt. That's a good thing! Although the weather man says don't get too excited because we are in for another snowstorm early next week.
This week I am looking a different web host servers. So you may see a "Moving Sign" on our home page.  Once I've decided on a server host and get the 'bones' of the site created, there will be a link on this site to redirect you to our new virtual home.
In the upcoming week I expect Holly will be ready to breed. I going to attempt a dual sire breeding via AI. Many people have asked me why a dual sire? Because it makes sense in this case!  Here's a brief answer:
1) Holly is a difficult gal to breed.  It's a win-win situation if we are successful in getting a litter by two sires from her with one heat cycle.
2) Both Tag & Jimmy have proven themselves in various competition venues. Jimmy has produced some very nice pups in the two litters he's sired.  Tag has yet to be bred. It's time to see what Tag will throw for pups.
3) If I were to wait on either boy, it means more time into getting the pups out of each boy.  I don't want to run the risk of something happening and not being able to get the pups.  Call me paranoid but since losing Tag's dad, Legend to bloat a few years ago, I take nothing for granted with these dogs. You never know what could happen. In Legend's case, we didn't have the opportunity to cross him with any of the females we have here. I don't want to risk that happening again with any of my dogs!
Dual sired litters are always a crap shoot - you never know who's got the swimmers and when the time is right for either male to swim to the finish line.  ;)  But it's my hope we'll be successful!

Nothing Ventured...Nothing Gained.

Lastly, congrats to our friends John & Ann Short on their new litter of Brittanys, born this past Saturday!

Welcome to our "Red Blog"!
With the new year upon us, I decided to start a new tradition.  At least once a week you'll be able to find journal entries on this page.
Our "Red Blog" will be bits and pieces of info, thought and insight about our adventure with our dogs.  So often, we get caught up in the day to day activies that we forget to take time and reflect on the small things that bring us joy and a sense of fulfillment.  This journal will capture those times.  We hope you enjoy reading!
